Los Ángeles, California. El despliegue de jugadores estrellas estuvo al estilo Hollywood , desde el primer día de la semana del Juego de Estrellas todo salió a la perfección, comenzando desde el Sábado con el Juego del Futuro, para minutos después el juego de las celebridades, el Domingo se llevó acabo el Draft de Novato, el Lunes el Home Run Derby y el día Martes el tradicional Juego de las Estrellas.
Los Ángeles fue la ciudad perfecta y el Dodger Stadium se comportó a la altura de lo ya acostumbrado, a casa llena todos los eventos.
Los protagonistas, los peloteros no quisieron desaprovechar la oportunidad de llevar a sus familias al gran evento y también para pasearlos por una gran parte de la ciudad mágica como es Los Ángeles.
El partido de las celebridades fue sensacional donde contó todo el tiempo con la figura principal del partido, el ya famoso cantante de música urbana el Puertorriqueño Bad Bunny, quien disfrutó cada momento del partido e incluso llevó dos bateadores emergentes al juego y eran dos Hall of Fame, primero Vladimir Guerrero y después David Ortiz. Pero lo mejor vendría después de finalizado el partido y fue el concierto ofrecido por Becky G deslumbrando a todos los presentes en el Dodger Stadium.
Como estrellas que son todos los seleccionados así lucieron en la ya tradicional alfombra roja donde todos lucían al estilo Hollywood.
En nuestra cobertura seguíamos paso a paso a todos los jugadores, y estos siempre mostraron respeto con la prensa. Todos estaban accesibles, como es de costumbre en este evento, algunos hablan de más porque en algunas ocasiones la emoción que les embarga por el simple hecho de estar en el Juego de Estrellas, los hace sentirse grande al estar reunidos con los grandes. El sentimiento los arropa y parecen niños al lado de tantas estrellas.
Con el primero que hablé fue con el sensacional novato Julio Rodríguez, quien se mostró fascinado de estar en el Juego de Estrellas. «Me siento muy contento de estar aquí y de representar mi equipo, y esto es un sueño hecho realidad básicamente,» dijo Rodríguez.
Tratando de buscar a Albert Pujols era casi imposible pues todos los periodistas le querían entrevistar, aproveché unos segundos después de terminar su rutina de bateo y le abordé preguntándole de como se sentía en su último Juego de Estrellas y que esperábamos de él para el Derby y el partido, «nada tratar de disfrutarlo y poner un show, tu sabes, para mi fanaticada y una bendición de estar aquí por última vez,» dijo Pujols.
Más adelante estuve hablando con Santiago Espinal, segunda base de los Azulejos de Toronto, quien dijo sentirse bendecido de Dios y quien fue premiado por su tremenda labor con los Blue Jays. Nos dijo, «una bendición principalmente por estar aquí y por la oportunidad que me han dado». Además nos dijo de su trabajo y lo que esperan del equipo para la segunda mitad, «lo más importante es seguir trabajando y seguir enfocado y echar para alante, lo que tenemos que hacer es ser consistentes como hicimos el año pasado en agosto y ser mejor equipo,» agregó Espinal. Además, cuando le pregunté sobre su debut con las Águilas Cibaeñas nos dijo, «cuando se dé la oportunidad, yo quiero jugar allá, cuando dios quiera, vamos a ver si jugamos este año,» terminó diciendo el Dominicano.
Una de las entrevistas que más me gustó fue cuando hablé con el Venezolano de los Guardianes de Cleveland, Andrés Jiménez, quien dijo sentirse orgulloso de estar aquí cuando le pregunté sobre el talento hispano de Cleveland y de cómo se llevan, y él agregó, «los latinos nos llevamos muy bien, hay jugadores de todas partes y es una unión de cultura muy buena y no la llevamos muy bien.» Siguiendo con mi entrevista le pregunté si extrañaba a los Mets de NewYork y sonriendo agregó, «no no, yo soy una persona que cuando pasan las cosas que pasan ya cambio para el siguiente día, yo creo que estoy agradecido donde estoy y me gusta donde estoy,» terminó diciendo el valioso segunda base de los Guardianes de Cleveland.
Seguía y seguía buscando cualquier oportunidad que se presentara y llame al jugador de los Mets de New York ,Starling Marte y este siempre complacido habló mucho con nosotros y enseguida hablamos de como se sentía y rápidamente me contestó, «se siente bien el estar aquí, ya que tenía seis años que no volvía y por estar aquí y compartir con dos estrellas como Miguel Cabrera y Albert Pujols, la verdad que me siento feliz,» dijo Starling. Al preguntarle sobre el título de Juan Soto en el Derby agregó, «oye mira, tremendo, eso fue algo que la verdad no voy a olvidar y nos sentimos orgullosos de cada latino, Dominicano, Puertorriqueño, Mexicano, que salga al terreno y haga historia, es algo que nos gusta y nos sentimos bien,» dijo Marte.
Sobre los Mets de New York le pregunté si para la segunda mitad iban a continuar arrollando y me dijo, «lo vamos a dar todo, porque lo que viene es duro,» y sobre la salud se expresó, » bueno, dolores hay, pero se puede jugar y gracias a dios con eso se juega y vamos a jugar duro,» terminó hablando el jardinero derecho de los Mets.
Ahí mismo conversé con Framber Valdez y el significado del Juego de Estrellas, «significa mucho para mi carrera, para mi familia, para todo lo que estoy haciendo, es el resultado del trabajo que he venido haciendo,» dijo Valdez. Sobre el triunfo de Juan Soto dijo,» feliz, feliz y contento un dominicano más triunfando en las Mayores y en un Juego de Estrellas ganándose el Derby de Jonrones y eso nos hace sentir contentos,» agregó Framber.
Caminando por el terreno compartí y conversé un rato con un conocido, el zurdo Cubano de los Yankees de New York ,Néstor Cortez Jr., quien emocionado me dijo lo bien que se sentía por el hecho de estar junto con tantas estrellas, «esto significa todo para mi, creciendo en Miami viendo todos los Juegos de Estrellas, soy un afortunado de estar aquí,» dijo Cortez Jr. y siguió agregando, «me siento contento pero no bien, falta mucha pelota por jugar y la meta de nosotros es llegar a la serie mundial.» Le pregunté sobre su participación con las Estrellas Orientales y nos dijo que le agradecía por todo lo bien que lo trataron en los cuatro años que jugó para ellos, y quizás para un futuro vuelva.
Casi para cuando ya se estaba acabando el tiempo para la prensa de estar en el terreno, conversé brevemente con uno de los anfitriones del partido, la estrella de los Dodgers de los Ángeles, Mookie Betts, y al preguntarle de como se sentía en su casa dijo, «se siente bien el estar aquí, va a ser muy divertido.» Le pregunté por su madre, su padre y me dijo, «están todos aquí, toda mi familia se encuentran aquí. Luego del juego saldremos todos a compartir.»
De esta manera concluimos nuestra labor de lo que fue la semana de actividades del Juego de las Estrellas en Los Ángeles, California.
